Safe Operation of a Mobile Boom Crane (Up to 8 Tonnes)
Course Length 8 Hours
Occupational Safety Group’s Mobile Boom Crane (Up to 8 Tonnes) program ensures that all participants of this course will understand all applicable legislation, hazards associated with operating a mobile boom crane, theoretical factors affecting stability, be able to perform necessary pre-shift inspections and once the course has been completed, readily apply their new skills to the workplace.
Attendees should include of mobile boom crane operators, supervisors and managers working with mobile boom cranes as well as Joint Health and Safety Committee Members who will be required to inspect this device and the area in which it is being operated.
The course is broken down into the following content modules:
- Legislative Requirements
- Recognizing Hazards
- Pre-Shift Inspection
- Proper Operating Procedures
- Mounting and Dismounting
- Hoisting and Rigging
- Written & Practical Evaluations
Course Material:
Participant manual, risk assessment tool, workplace violence questionnaire, sample workplace violence and harassment policy and sample program, record of attendance and wall certificate
After the theory segment of this program has been completed a hands-on evaluation is required to complete certification. A $100/person charge applies for each evaluation. If additional evaluations are required for different types of lifting devices, than a charge of $50/person/lifting device will apply. Please keep in mind that if additional visits are needed to complete these hands-on evaluations, there will be additional fees. Hands-on evaluations must be completed within 90 days.
