Course Summary

For those who exercise managerial responsibilities, identifying the legislation and the hazards applicable to your work environment is essential, as these are key factors in health and safety management. Our course is designed to provide employees who exercise managerial responsibilities, and members of policy and workplace committees, knowledge of federal legislation as it relates to occupational health and safety. Federally regulated companies include the federal government, broadcasting, telecommunications, railways, banks, airport transportation, ship yards, and may also include trucking companies.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss Offenses and Penalties
  • Identify the requirements for and responsibilities of Workplace and Policy Committees
  • Discuss the Hazard Prevention
  • Explain the Internal Complaint Resolution Process
  • Identify factors in Establishing Due Diligence
  • Discuss the Role of the Health and Safety Officer

Target Audience

Policy Committees, workers, supervisors, managers of federally regulated companies include the federal government, broadcasting, telecommunications, railways, banks, airport transportation, ship yards, and transportation companies.

Canada Labour Code ss. 125. 1(z), 125. 1(z.01)

125.1(z) ensure that employees who have supervisory or managerial responsibilities are adequately trained in health and safety and are informed of the responsibilities they have under this Part where they act on behalf of the employer;

(z.01) ensure members of the policy and work place committees and health and safety representatives receive the prescribed training in health and safety and are informed of their responsibilities under this Part;”
