Section 26.2 of O.Reg. 213/91 mandates the training of workers:
“an employer shall ensure that a worker who may use a fall protection system is adequately trained in its use….”
This obligation to train has NOT changed. If workers need to be trained in working at heights, they must be trained. Waiting for this new legislation to come into effect on April 1, 2015 is not an option if training is required before then.
For the construction industry, we have submitted our 2 Day Working at Heights: Fall Protection Train-the-Trainer course for companies that are seeking to train their own workers. We have begun to fill up courses booked in April in anticipation of approval.
For the non-construction industry, we have updated the one day Working at Heights: Fall Protection Train-the-Trainer to reflect the MOL changes to the theory portions of the course. We have not been given a date as to when the MOL will enforce changes on all industries, but we have prepared the course for that transition.Working at Heights:
Also, we have updated the one day Working at Heights: Fall Protection to reflect the MOL changes to the general safety course.
